GE Healthcare has partnered with the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee for an imaging research program to explore the role of 7T MRI technology.

GE will provide an investigational ultra-high field 7T MRI scanner to the college for the study of early neurological and psychiatric disorders, including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and Huntington’s disease, as well as bipolar disorder, brain tumors, stroke, epilepsy, drug abuse, attention deficit disorder, multiple sclerosis, head injury, visual disorders and schizophrenia, stated the Waukesha, Wis.-based company.

The research program also will work toward the development of new brain imaging techniques for earlier detection of disease and increasing the effectiveness of investigational therapies.
